Practice areas included general litigation, securities litigation, international transactions, international petroleum and energy, corporate, mergers & acquisitions, independent power generation and other developmental projects. 

--Special Trial Attorney for the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, Office of General Counsel, Wash. D.C.; 

--Senior Legal Advisor for Mobil Exploration and Asia Pacific (Major International Transactions Group of Mobil Corporation).

Judgeship:  Magistrate for the State of Texas and Associate Municipal Judge, City of Houston (appointed 1992-95) (recognized by ABA as first Vietnamese American appointed to the judiciary).

Public Administration and Legal Management:  

--Executive Director of Risk Management, Houston Independent School District: managed $6 million budget and five divisions: property and liability insurance, workers' and unemployment compensation, loss control, and employee benefits/union relations.  Served as District representative to liaise with outside counsel and recommended settlements for Board approval. Responsible for asbestos removal and abatement from school buildings in compliance with EPA mandates.

BAR MEMBERSHIPS: 

Scored in the top 10 percent of all Texas bar examinees (1984); member, Texas (active) and D.C. bars (inactive); admitted for practice in the Southern District of Texas, 5th Circuit, D.C. Circuit, U.S. Supreme Court (inactive).
