Prior to founding Wendy Duong & Associates, Ms. Duong spent 18 years as federal litigator and major transaction lawyer for international law firms, the U.S. government, and Fortune 500 clients. She also spent 12 years as a law professor, including her overseas teaching in Asia and Europe as a U.S. Fulbright legal scholar and specialist.

A legal scholar who spent thousands of hours representing Vietnamese Americans pro bono during the 1980s and early 1990s, Ms. Wendy NN Duong will accept cases and representation on a selective basis and is particularly interested in issues affecting the Asian and Vietnamese American community. Her wealth of experience includes, but is not limited to, U.S. business organizations, foreign trade and investment matters, commercial and business disputes, standards for the profession and issues affecting professionals, as well as civil rights, human rights, and constitutional violations. A pioneer woman in her fields, she is known to be the first Vietnamese American judge in America, due to her municipal court appointment for the City of Houston and magistrate position for the State of Texas, during the early days of Vietnamese settlement in the U.S. She resigned from the judgeship in 1994 in order to pursue a career in international law, which brought her positions such as senior legal advisor for Mobil-Asia Pacific.

Trained in journalism, Ms. Duong is also an award-winning author of both fiction and non-fiction, and an artist who uses her visual art in aid of her legal advocacy. Published in the 1990s, her interdisciplinary article, "The Vietnamese Woman: Warrior and Poet," was regarded by legal academicians as the seminal analysis of the Vietnamese collective female identity and gender relations in Vietnam at the end of the 20th century. Her most recent legal article, published by Seattle University's Journal of Social Justice in 2011, presents proposed legal and non-legal solutions for the global ill of human trafficking, focusing specifically on Southeast Asia.
